Chris Johnson announces CBBC Office departure

CBBC Office presenter Chris Johnson has announced that he is to leave at the start of September.

Chris, who is currently the lead continuity presenter, joined the channel in January 2010 presenting weekends with Ed Petrie. Before continuing with holiday mornings and weekends with the likes of London Hughes and Dodge the Dog.

Then, following Iain Stirling leaving, took over weekday afternoons with Hacker the Dog in February 2013 where he’s remained for the past year and half.

Chris has also voiced Dennis the Menace in a recent reboot, appeared in shows such as 12 Again and narrated new hit Whoops I Missed The Bus. He’s also a member of Doctor Who Magazine’s Time Team and voiced characters for online interactive game The Gunpowder Plot.

Announcing the news on his personal Twitter page, Chris wrote: “Sep 5th will be my last day in the CBBC Office. It’s been amazing but after playing ‘Chris’ for 4 years it’s time to try something new.

“For those asking, I’m not gone from the CBBC Channel entirely – Dennis the Menace & Gnasher is on every day & there are more shows to come.”

Chris’ final day in the CBBC Office will be Friday 5th September 2014.

CBBC to help celebrate Doctor Who’s 50th Anniversary

CBBC are to join other BBC television and radio stations to celebrity 50 years of hit BBC One show Doctor Who.

There will be a special episode of Iain Stirling narrated programme 12 Again (30 minutes in length) which will bringing together CBBC’s super-fan Chris Johnson, impressionist Jon Culshaw, Tommy Knight (Luke Smith), Warwick Davis (Porridge), Neve McIntosh (Madame Vastra), Dan Starkey (Strax) Louise Jameson (Leela) and the seventh Doctor, Sylvester McCoy, as they share their memories of watching TV’s top Time Lord when they were young.

Blue Peter will also be getting involved by launching an exciting new competition which will give viewers aged between six and 14 the opportunity to design a new gadget that will become part of the iconic science fiction series.

Two live Blue Peter specials will see presenters Barney, Lindsey and Radzi joined by aliens and monsters, with viewers challenging Matt Smith to answer their Doctor Who questions.

Doctor Who‘s 50th anniversary special will air be shown on 23rd November 2013 on BBC One, titled The Day Of The Doctor.

‘Wolfblood’ series 2 starts TOMORROW @ 5pm on CBBC

Wolfblood is back for it’s second series tomorrow afternoon on the CBBC channel at 5pm, read the snopsis for the episode below:

CBBC’s fantasy drama Wolfblood follows the lives of two seemingly ordinary teenagers who are secretly part of a mysterious race who have lived among us for centuries, disguising their abilities and blending in.

Wolfbloods like Maddy and Rhydian have razor sharp senses with an amazing sense of smell and are incredibly fast and super strong. They also change into wolves every full moon…

In the first episode of this second series, Rhydian unexpectedly returns to Stoneybridge, putting Maddy and her family in danger. Meanwhile, Tom discovers Shannon has a surveillance camera hidden in the den and she persuades him it’s for the Wolfbloods’ own good – that if they are discovered, she can prove they are not monsters.

Wolfblood stars Bobby Lockwood (Rhydian), Aimee Kelly (Maddy), Louisa Connolly-Burnham (Shannon) and Kedar Williams-Stirling (Tom) and was filmed entirely on location in Northumberland.

Then afterwards at 5:30pm airs the new 15 minute spin off Wolfblood Uncovered, which “follows Bobby Lockwood – who plays Rhydian – as he sets out to find out everything there is to know about wolves and to discover how their incredible capabilities have inspired the wolfbloods in the show”.

The second episode for both series airs on Tuesday.
